Advocating the Rights of the Social Vulnerable through a Legislative Reform Duration of the Project: October 2007 – September 2008 Donor of the Project: Counterpart International Armenia Office The problem within the scope of the project is the absence of relevant mechanisms to protect the rights of the social vulnerable; as a result 670,000 social vulnerable people do not have a chance to protect their rights as entitled according to the Law. The Household assessment conducted by CCDI has shown the following results: 55% out of 1250 household even are not aware of their right on social support, 10% were aware but have never applied to their right for a social support, 15% refused to respond, 20% was aware and are registered to use the social service. Within the scope of the project an Expert Group will be established to review the relevant legislative field and will develop relevant mechanisms. As a result the developed document on proposed mechanisms will be submitted to the Government of Armenia for approval, the project co-thinkers and beneficiaries will be mobilized to assure public participation. In case of successful implementation of the project the rights of about 670 000 beneficiaries of the project will be protected by the relevant Decision of the Government of Armenia. The Expert Group will develop booklets on advocating the rights, radio and public discussions will be organized. The Expert Group will analyze the legislative field related to Social security and will develop the draft mechanisms on protecting of the legal rights of social vulnerable. |
