Support to Fair and Transparent Election Processes in Armenia 2007

Duration of the Project: January 2007 – May 2007

Location of the Project: Aragatsotn, Kotayq, Gegharkunik, Tavush,
Yerevan, Shirak, Syunik

Donor of the Project: Counterpart International Armenia office

The Goal of the project is to increase the voters’ awareness and support to civic participation during the elections of the NA.

Under the funding received from Counterpart International CCDI NGO implemented the “Support to Fair and Transparent Election Processes in Armenia 2007” programme. Within the scope of the programme CCDI implemented the following activities, directed to assuring the awareness raising and civic participation,

-Organization of Concerts
-Works related to making corrections at the Voter’s lists
-Distribution of educational leaflets
-TV debates via direct broadcasting

Concerts were organized in 8 marzes of Armenia under “Be the owner of your Vote” name. The artists invited from the capital and local artists and groups took part at the conducted concerts.

The experience has shown that the violations during the election processes are mainly due to the incorrect information included into the Voters lists. The employees of CCDI Field offices managed to gather around those volunteers who have prior participated at CCDI training sessions. The Volunteers helped to identify incorrect information at the voter’s lists and submitted it to the “authorized bodies”, as a result the lists were revised and improved.
