CITIZENS' AWARENESS AND PARTICIPATION IN ARMENIA PROJECT
Direct Citizen Engagement

IFES civic educator's team of 22 instructors, with 3 years of CAPA experience became CCDI employees and will continue encouraging civic activism under the auspices of CCDI. This will lead towards forming a more structured active grassroots civil society by providing citizens the needed regular information, support and forums to meet and exchange experiences.
CCDI continue managing CAPA's reliable and permanent presence in eight marzes., which is secured by eight regional branch officers managed by their respective instructors.
CCDI providing professional development to its 22 instructors that are in charge of conducting Dialogue Groups (DGs) and are supporting and fostering Initiative Groups (IGs). On a monthly basis, CCDI will conduct exchange programs for its instructors. CCDI Instructors will visit each other in different marzes and participate in their colleagues? events. Each team of instructors will submit various weekly and monthly reports and events schedules to CCDI Head office.

CCDI instructors offer the following services and resources free-of-charge to communities in their regions:

* Facilitation of discussion groups.
* Organization of citizen initiative groups and advocacy campaigns.
* Distribution of information materials and Community Council reports.
* Coordination of volunteer actions (more than 160,000 people participated).
* Hosting of youth interns.
* Promotion of dialogues between local residents, authorities, businesses and non-governmental organizations.
* Carrying out of election debates and other voter education activities.
* Organization of civic groups: such as Voter Lists Advisory Committees (VLACs) for the correction and maintenance of voter lists.
* Providing of opportunities for citizen feedback on legislative initiatives.

Information and Public Outreach
IFES/Armenia publishes and provides CCDI informational products for distribution to the Armenian public. The IFES/Armenia Information and Public Outreach (IPO) component strives to develop information products that focus on key CAPA-related themes and meet the informational needs of ongoing and future dialogue groups and initiative groups. CCDI has distributed over 300,000 copies of these materials to the Armenian public, largely through dialogue groups facilitated by IFES Civic Education Instructors and as of March 2004 about 1000 CCDI brochures.
